Officials with the City of Janesville are reminding citizens to be vigilant as a popular scam is popping back up.
Janesville Police Sergeant Benjamin Thompson says criminals have been posing as workers from the Janesville Water Utility.
Once they get inside your house, the scammers may seek to burglarize or commit other crimes.
Thompson says the Water Utility will generally send you a letter to schedule a day to complete work instead of just showing up.
Thompson says Janesville Water Utility workers will carry a badge, wear a uniform, and arrive in marked vehicles.
