The Janesville City Council votes to inject more money into the City’s affordable housing fund.

Economic Development Director Jimsi Kuborn says extending the life of TIF districts 25, 26, 27, and 33 for one year will allow the City to capture an additional $1.2 million specifically for housing.

The funds don’t need to be used within the TIF districts they are captured from, it can be used anywhere in the city of Janesville.

Kuborn says the city’s affordable housing fund currently has $1 million in it.

Bear Development is hosting a meeting at 6:00 Wednesday night at the Hedberg Public Library to discuss plans to bring close to 80 apartments and condos to a four-acre site next to the Rock River at 101 Rockport Road.
