The School District of Janesville expects to unveil building renovation plans soon.

Superintendent Mark Holzman told the school board Tuesday night that top district administrators are working with contractors to craft a plan for the $151.8 million in borrowing approved in last month’s capital referendum vote.

He says the talks are in their conceptual phase where the team is determining what work needs to be done and allocating cost estimates to those projects.

Some of their work will be reported to the school district’s Finance, Building and Grounds Committee when it meets next Tuesday night. There will then be a formal presentation to the full school board at its January meeting.

Holzman says 19 facilities will see renovations but not all at the same time. He expects work to be taking place at three or four sites at a time over the course of the next four years.

He says he’s focused on making the early planning phase as efficient as possible so there are fewer costly hiccups later on.
