The American Red Cross of Wisconsin is winding down its holiday blood drive with a few more events on the calendar.
Laura McGuire, the regional communications manager for the Red Cross in Wisconsin, suggests making a new holiday tradition out of donating blood.
She says with everybody being so busy during this time of year, it can be difficult to maintain a sufficient blood supply for when doctors need to tap into it.
One of the upcoming blood drives will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at UW-Whitewater at Rock County in Janesville on Jan. 3. That will be the last day for donors to claim a free long-sleeve T-shirt for giving blood.
Campus dean Tricia Clasen says Regan Hoffman, a student who volunteers with the Red Cross, pushed to organize the blood drive despite being in between semesters.
Other upcoming blood drives can be found online at RedCrossBlood.org.
