A Janesville woman who critically injured a motorcyclist when she struck him with her SUV won’t be eligible to have her felony conviction expunged.
24-year-old Skyla Richardson plead guilty in Rock County Court Wednesday morning to knowingly operating with a suspended license causing great bodily harm.
At the recommendation of both Defense Attorney Michael Murphy and Rock County District Attorney Jason Sanders, Judge Barbara McCrory sentenced Richardson to three years of probation.
According to the criminal complaint, Janesville Police were dispatched to the intersection of East Milwaukee Street and North Pontiac Drive just before 5:00 p.m. on April 13th on the report of a vehicle versus motorcycle crash.
First responders found a motorcycle on its side and a man in the road with good Samaritans providing first aid.
Investigation determined that the motorcyclist was headed east on Milwaukee Street when Richardson turned in front of him while trying to pull into Kwik Trip. The motorcyclist tried to break but he struck Richardson’s SUV and was thrown over the hood.
After hearing arguments from both sides Judge McCrory found that Richardson would not be eligible to have her case expunged once she completes probation.
