A Beloit man is charged with threatening a police officer while being treated at the hospital.
Prosecutors say police were called out Jan. 8 to the Walgreen’s on Broad Street in Beloit on a report of a civil dispute. An officer located Nathaniel David Herman, 32, laying near the road convulsing.
Herman was going in and out of consciousness and wasn’t following commands, so the officer placed him in handcuffs before he was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital.
While at the hospital, the officer asked the suspect if he had been trying to harm himself by overdosing, but Herman responded by saying he only wanted to harm law enforcement. The suspect later stated that he wanted to headbutt officers.
