A swatting call results in a heavy police presence near Parker High School in Janesville.

The Rock County Communications Center says Janesville police and fire units and the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a person with a gunshot wound at about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Greenway Point Drive, across Mineral Point Avenue from Parker.

Janesville police Lt. Jennifer Seeger said officers found nobody with a gunshot wound at the scene and that they were notifying neighbors it was a swatting incident where somebody calls in a false report to trigger a police response. Seeger says there was no threat to the public.

Parker’s school resource officer was notified about the gunshot wound report. School district spokesman Patrick Gasper says the school was put on “secure” status until 12:15 p.m. “Secure” status means operations continue inside but no one is allowed in or out.

Because of the time of day and weather, students returning from lunch were allowed to re-enter with student ID’s and visual checks.
