Upgrades are coming to a nearby section of the Ice Age Trail.
The state Department of Natural Resources recently announced a $20,000 grant for the Ice Age Trail Alliance through the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund.
Melissa Pierick, the alliance’s director of marketing and community relations, says the money will be used to upgrade a 1.6-mile segment that runs through the Clover Valley State Wildlife Area.
That portion is along the Rock-Walworth county line, southwest of Whitewater.
Pierick says volunteers will replace two bridges, put a new deck on another, and build a brand new bridge and boardwalk in mid-July.
