Evansville felon faces weapons charges

The father of one of the suspects arrested in the wake of a 14-year-old’s shooting death is facing a weapons charge.

William Drefahl, 44, is charged in Rock County Court with possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to the criminal complaint, police found videos on a cellphone that showed Drefahl teaching his son, William Drefahl, 26; Alyssa Ahrens, 20; and the 14-year-old girl who died how to shoot guns.

Drefahl is a convicted sex offender who was convicted of capturing an intimate representation of a victim less than 18 years old in 2022 and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Hunter Drefahl and Alyssa Ahrens both face charges of sexual assault of a child, child sexual exploitation, and possession of child pornography.
