An education and job training program that Community Action of Rock and Walworth Counties conducts for youth ages 16 to 20 won’t be happening next year.
Executive Director Mark Perry says Fresh Start relies heavily on federal funding so he doesn’t want to start people in a program and then leave them hanging.
Perry says federal funding for programs like Head Start, childcare, and housing programs could end as soon as tomorrow.
Perry says it’s felt like one blow after another since January.
Participants of Fresh Start spend half their time in an intensive individualized educational program to complete their high school education, while the remainder of their time is spent in various work and life skill classes.
