Five people apply for the vacancy on the Milton Common Council.

The vacancy was created when former council member Eric Stockman took the oath of office as mayor last month.

The five applicants are Brooks Gallman, Nicholas Klos, Trent Kuczynski, Teri Olson and Michelle Reid. They’ll go through a public vetting process over two common council meetings.

Candidates will have an opportunity to make a presentation to the council and be interviewed in open session by current council members at the first meeting.

At the second meeting, members of the public will be able to weigh in on the applicants.

After that, the common council will vote to recommend an applicant for appointment to the council. The appointment is made by the mayor and then confirmed again by the council.
