Authorities say thieves tried to rob store safes at two different Walgreens stores in Janesville.

Janesville police have not given full details, including what time both incidents happened, but both incidents are thought to have happened sometime on Friday.

A police department spokesman tells Big Radio that police are investigating two break ins after thieves targeted store safes at two different Janesville Walgreens locations — The Walgreens store on Center Avenue, and the Walgreens at Milton Avenue and Black Bridge road.

Police say a thief or thieves tried to force a door to get at a store safe at the Black Bridge Road Walgreens, but they apparently were not successful.

At the Center Avenue Walgreens, police say a thief or thieves were able to get into an apparently unlocked room, where they accessed a safe. They made off with money, but it’s not clear how much.

Police says the safes at both Walgreens are located in restricted employee areas that are supposed to be secured with a locked door.

Janesville police are working with security footage at the stores to try to ID suspects in the break ins.
