Janesville is still a “Tree City.”  The city known as Wisconsin’s Park Place has been named a Tree City by the Arbor Day Foundation for a 21st year in a row.  Parks Director Cullen Slapak says Janesville is proud to be known as a Tree City.
There is certain criteria to receive Tree City recognition, including having a tree board or department, keeping a tree care ordinance, and holding an annual Arbor Day observance and proclamation.  The City of Janesville has received this special designation every year since 2004.
