New Jack & Jenny’s to share patio space with Genisa Wine Bar on Janesville’s downtown riverfront

Janesville’s North Main Street will ring in summer with a new bar and grill when Jack & Jenny’s opens in early July.
The low-key eatery at 15 N. Main St. along the riverfront downtown will become companion to Genisa Wine Bar next door at 11 and 13 North Main. In fact, the two restaurants will share the same patio — and if the city’s liquor board OKs it, the same liquor license.
Under a plan being presented to the city’s Alcohol License Advisory Committee on Tuesday, Genisa and Jack & Jenny’s would both use the same patio that’s been in operation for years on the north side of Genisa.
That arrangement is allowed under a Wisconsin law that allows adjacent, related businesses owned under a common owner to operate using a single, class B liquor license.
Owner Greg Hughes, a Janesville native and national television executive, owns both Genisa and Jack & Jenny’s.
Hughes had submitted a similar request to the city’s liquor board in late 2023, but then pulled the request. At the time, Jack & Jenny’s was still in planning.
