The Children’s Museum of Rock County has been dropping more than a few hints they’re ready to roll on a project to turn a historic bank in downtown Janesville into a full-fledged children’s museum.
Here come the shovels.
The Children’s Museum announces it will host a ground breaking ceremony at 4:30 p.m. June 24 to kick off a multi-million dollar revamp of the former First National Bank at 100 West Milwaukee Street.
The announcement comes after the museum’s board of directors say they gave local contractor JP Cullen the OK to start the job.
One catalyst was a $2 million charitable donation including a $500,000 matching grant the museum garnered from Janesville natives Steve Bysted and Marlene Bysted.
The work gets underway as newly-hired museum executive director Kent Anderson comes aboard.
