The Rock County Sheriff’s Office gives more details in a Sunday crash in Janesville they say led to a 2-year-old toddler being sent by helicopter to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office has not released names of people in the crash or said if citations are expected. But they say in an update Monday that a 25-year-old Milton man was traveling east on Highway 14 in a GMC Terrain SUV when he slowed and signaled to turn north onto South Henke Road.

The sheriff’s office says a 56-year-old man driving a Cadillac XT5 SUV driving just behind the GMC failed to slow down and rear ended the GMC, causing the GMC to spin out in the intersection and strike a Jeep Gladiator that was westbound on Highway 14.

Police say a 2-year-old child was riding in the GMC. Witnesses say the child was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries.

Several other occupants of vehicles in the crash were treated at local hospitals for minor injuries. Police continue investigating.
