Another fast food chain specializing in fried chicken rolls the die on Janesville’s saturated market.

According to signs on the former KFC building at 2425 Milton Avenue, a Church’s Texas Chicken restaurant is “coming soon.”

Founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1952, Church’s Texas Chicken specializes in fried chicken and sides like fried okra, baked mac and cheese, and honey-butter biscuits. Church’s Texas Chicken has over 700 locations in the United States. This would be the second location in Wisconsin after Watertown.

Janesville has no shortage of places to grab fried chicken. Popeyes, Layne’s Chicken Fingers, Raising Canes, and Chick-fil-A all have restaurants within a half mile of each other in the busy Milton Avenue/ Humes Road area.

A Big Radio reporter stopped by the new Church’s restaurant Tuesday morning. A person working inside said they are currently hiring and hope to open in 10 or 11 days.
