A local school district is doing away with extracurricular and material fees. Evansville Schools Superintendent Jerry Roth says the goal is to get more kids involved. Roth says some families can’t afford the fees for their children to be a part of a sport or a club. He says the district wants to demonstrate free public education is truly that. Roth doesn’t expect the district to lose much money because the it doesn’t get state reimbursements for educational expenses when local fees are charged.
