The off-road bicycle course now in the works in Janesville’s Palmer Park area will be named the Palmer Urban Mountain Bike Park — or, for short, “PUMP.”
Janesville Velo Club Member Paul Murphy says individual hill and curve trails in the east side biking complex are named to pay homage to the former General Motors assembly plant. Trails include names such as the Blazer, the Suburban, the Tilt Master, the Task Force, the Skyhawk, the Impala, and the Bel-Air.
Murphy says the project is more than two-thirds complete.
He says the city of Janesville is currently constructing a small enclosed area with moguls, turns, and curves that gets people acclimated to the course. The city also is building out a 10-to-12 stall parking lot adjacent to the PUMP.
