If you know a young kid who’s shown an interest in becoming a veterinarian, the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin’s Beginner Vet Camp might be for them.
Community Outreach Coordinator Faith Stephens says kids ages 8 to 11 will learn about medical exams, animal body language, administering medicine, and get to spend time with animals at the shelter.
Stephens says there’s plenty of hands on opportunities for the kids including viewing slides through microscopes, teaching them how to do medical exams and what to look for, and if parents are okay with it, kids can even view a surgery.
The camp runs June 17th through the 20th, and registration must be done by Monday, May 27th.
