Janesville Police Department releases 2023 annual report

Despite a lot of turnover in 2023, the Janesville Police Department remains committed to keeping the community safe.
Police Chief Chad Pearson says 289 years of experience retired from the police department, while the current average years of experience across all three patrol shifts combined is seven years.
In 2023, the City of Janesville saw a 10 percent increase in overall arrests. Crimes against society decreased by 39 percent, and there were no homicides.
Pearson acknowledges 2024 has started with an atypical amount of violent crime, but stresses that officers have gotten to the bottom of those incidents.
