A 48-year-old Evansville man, accused of swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars out of customers of his former business, waives his right to a jury trial. Instead, Troy Tofte Thursday morning asked to have a bench trial in Rock County Court. Authorities say while Tofte owned Janesville RV, he failed to deliver trailers customers had paid for, and also sold trailers on consignment without turning the money over to the original owners. The prosecution says it’s prepared to call more than 30-victims as witnesses. The defense says restitution will be substantial. A January trail date is set.
