Janesville man accused of selling the drugs that cause 2 overdoses

scales-of-justice-3

A 30-year-old Janesville man is being held in the Rock County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond on charges of second-degree reckless endangering safety and two counts of felony bail jumping.

According to the criminal complaint, shortly after 11:30 p.m. the night of April 5th, several young children pounded on a neighbor’s door in the 700 block of Brooks Street because their mother was unconscious and they thought she was dead.

First responders found the victim was unconscious, suffering from an apparent overdose.

Through investigation, officers learned the victim had purchased what she though was cocaine from Anthony Dumas and that she snorted it with a friend before passing out. The friend also overdosed at a home on the 1100 block of Prairie Avenue.

The drugs tested positive for Fentanyl.

Dumas is due back in Rock County Court for his preliminary hearing on August 30th.
