A Rockford, Illinois, manufacturer finds the office space it was looking for just north of the state line in downtown Beloit.
Doug Stitt, president of The Caldwell Group, a manufacturer of fabricated steel lifting products, says the company’s recent growth had them looking for additional office space.
The search ended at 200 State Street, which is the former Regal Beloit building near City Hall. The city’s Plan Commission recently approved a conditional-use permit to allow offices in the building’s ground floor.
Stitt says the company regularly hosts non-employees for training and that bringing them to downtown Beloit will offer them an enjoyable experience.
Caldwell hopes to close the purchase by the end of the month and move in shortly after that. Stitt says he expects more hires to be made in Beloit after operations begin there.
