The Janesville School District’s 2024-25 budget includes $146.7 million in general fund spending and levy and mill rate increases.

Unanimous school board approval of the budget came Tuesday night.

Staffing makes up about 80% of the district’s general fund costs.

Revenues include $85.1 million from state sources, $44.4 million from local sources, $9.6 million from the feds and $5.2 million from other districts through open enrollment.

The district will collect a total of $51.6 million in property taxes, an increase from $50.2 million last year.

With a bigger levy and lower state equalized property values in the district, the budget has a higher mill rate, $7.39 per $1,000 of equalized value, up from $7.05 last year.
