An Evansville family says they’re raising money for funeral costs for a 14-year-old girl they say was shot dead on Sunday.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for 14-year-old Florencia Henthorn, whose family says died Sunday. The GoFundMe calls Henthorn a “victim of gun violence.”
The GoFundMe page says “Please consider donating to help her family lay her to rest. No parent should ever have to plan their child’s funeral — or worry about how to pay for it.”
Big Radio has reached out to the Evansville resident who posted the GoFundMe for more information.
As of Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe had raised $5,450 on the way to a $10,000 goal.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office Meanwhile has announced arrests in the case Tuesday, identifying three people: Hunter J. Drefahl
26; Alyssa Ahrens, 20; and 44-year-old William Drefahl.
Ahrens and Hunter Drehfahl are suspected of contributing to the delinquency of a minor causing death, although police have not given more details. The two also are charged with possessing child pornography, sexually exploiting a child, second degree sexual assault of a child, and child enticement. Ahrens also was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine.
William Drefahl faces a count of probation violation. Court records show Drefahl faced 10 felony child pornography charges in 2020.
Police still have not identified the person killed.
Police say the shooting was reported in the 300 block of South Madison Street at about 9 a.m. Sunday.
In a separate incident in late May of 2023, police reported Henthorn was one of two girls reported as “missing and endangered” after she and a friend apparently tried to run away to Milwaukee. Police located both girls together within 48 hours of their disappearance. At the time, police say a sibling of Henthorn’s helped police find the two.
This is a developing story. It has been updated to include late-breaking information from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
