A Beloit teenager who assaulted his mother, attempted to light his grandmother’s hair on fire, and threatened to kill his four-year-old sister takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 9th Kaleb Lervik, who was 17 at the time, became upset with his mother because she wouldn’t give him money to buy marijuana.
Lervik pushed the woman to the ground and took her cell phone when she threatened to call police.
Police say Lervik was lighting a lighter and brining the flame near his grandmother’s head repeatedly. When she tried to call police he took her phone, striking her in the jaw in the process.
Police say Lervik told his young sister he would drown her in the sink.
According to online court records Wednesday Judge Karl Hanson found Lervik guilty but not guilty to charges of battery and disorderly conduct. Additional charges of physical abuse of an elderly person, intimidating a victim, and disorderly conduct were dismissed by read into the record.
Sentencing is set for June 19th.
