A high-speed chase of a stolen truck ends in the arrest of a 39-year-old Janesville man.

According to a criminal complaint, a Rock County sheriff’s deputy and other officers chased Daniel J. Nyman for nearly 14 miles at speeds reaching 98 mph.

The pursuit ended after 12 wild minutes Saturday night with the deputy using a PIT maneuver to spin Nyman into a ditch along Hart Road.

In all, five law enforcement agencies got involved in the case throughout the day.

Beloit police reported Nyman was a person of interest in a truck theft, and Janesville police had pursued the stolen vehicle earlier in the day but were unable to make an arrest.

After the chase kicked off from a gas station on the east side of Beloit, Nyman evaded stop strips deployed by Clinton police by driving through a farm field before driving over strips placed by a state trooper.

Nyman continued fleeing despite a flat front tire until the deputy spun him off the road. He faces repeater charges of attempting to flee an officer and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent.
