Janesville’s water utility director is testing for something a little unusual these days. With all the salt being dumped on the roads in recent years, and especially before last month’s ice storms, Dave Botts wanted to be sure it wasn’t getting into the city’s drinking water. Madison’s need to shut down a well, actually prompted Botts to double check. He says Janesville’s sodium levels are very low and not a problem. Typically Janesville’s water is checked daily for bacteria, and monthly for other types of contaminants.
