Persistance pays-off may not be her platform, but perhaps it should be for the newly crowned Miss Beloit. 22-year-old Katrina Laursen says she’d competed three-times before being crowned this past Saturday night. Laursen is wasting no time in getting ready for the Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Pageant in June. She’s already filled a fish bowl with interview subjects, and periodically pulls them out at random to practice. Her first official public duty will be Beloit Downtown’s Easter Extravaganza April 15th. She currently works as a teacher for one-year-olds in a Janesville day care and hopes to complete a degree in elementary education at UW-Whitewater.
