Janesville man sentenced to five years in prison for providing the heroin that killed friend

The 32-year-old Janesville man who plead guilty to a reduced charge of delivery of heroin after the drugs he provided killed one of his best friends is sentenced to five years behind bars.
During David J. Nevel’s sentencing Wednesday afternoon in Rock County Court, Prosecutor Mary Bricco argued for seven years in prison and five years of extended supervision due to the fact that he was arrested again while out on bail for the case.
Nevel was also sentenced to five years of extended supervision and three years of probation for bail jumping.
According to the criminal complaint, Nevel provided heroin to Danny Ennis in August of 2015 and later went back to administer Narcan after Ennis’ girlfriend called to report that he had overdosed. Ennis died 13 says later in the hospital.
