Judge refuses to reduce bail for Beloit man accused of killing infant son

The 31-year-old Beloit man charged with first degree intentional homicide in connection with the death of his two-month old son makes an attempt to have his $20,000 bond reduced.
In Rock County Court Wednesday afternoon Judge Michael Haakensen noted that when Deanthony Cardell Hodges’ bond was set, he was only facing charges of child abuse and neglect causing great bodily harm.
Hodges attorney Joshua Klaff argued that the state has failed to produce discovery in the case and that Hodges is a lifelong area resident with no prior criminal history, therefore bail should be reduced to $3000.
Haakensen did not agree and kept bail as it is.
Hodges is due back in court June 23rd at 9:00 a.m.
