Janesville firefighters say it’s an all too common story. Someone cooking later at night gets distracted and discovers the stove ablaze. That’s likely what happened last night when firefighters were called to the 400 block of North Pearl Street about 10:00 p.m. Thurdsay for a grease fire. The resident says he was heating up a pan of grease to cook french fries, and then went into the living room to watch TV. He adds he tried to put the fire out, but it spread to a wall, so he warned the upstairs neighbors and everyone evacuated the home. Firefighters say damage was contained mainly to the kitchen.
