A family of four is displaced after a fire in Janesville. Firefighters were called to the five-hundred block of North Pearl Street about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials say flames were found climbing the south wall of the two-story duplex. No one was living in the upstairs unit. The family in the lower unit were alerted to the fire by a crackling sound. Damage was confined to the siding and roof, with a little extension into the attic. Investigators say the cause could be an improperly discarded cigarette.
