Monroe man arrested following standoff with police

A 43-year-old Monroe man is under arrest following a two-hour standoff with law enforcement early Thursday morning.
Monroe Police say officers were called to the report of a domestic disturbance just after 12:30 a.m. at a residence on the 1100 block of 17th Street.
The dispatcher advised that a person inside the home was armed with a shotgun and was making threats of self harm.
Responding officers noticed a man across the street from the home armed with a gun, and he quickly fled inside.
Police were able to help all of the occupants of the home make it out safe, and they eventually recovered the the gun near the residence.
Two hours later Gerald L Brown emerged from the home and he was taken into custody on suspicion of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct while armed, and disorderly conduct under Wisconsin’s domestic violence laws.
