Water utility bills are expected to increase in Janesville

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission is expected to give Janesville approval to increase the water utility rates by five-percent. City Finance Director Tim Allen says the last PSC review was done in 2012, and the city needs more money to maintain water service infrastructure.  Allen says the rate increase will add about six-dollars to the average quarterly water bill. Outside of the occasional WPS review, the city is allowed to increase water utility rates by lesser amounts once-a-year to deal with inflation.
