(Gazette photo) The Department of Transportation has picked a Janesville-based road builder to help complete a more than $50 million section of the Interstate expansion project. Rock Road Companies Vice President Steve Kennedy likes the idea of keeping things local. He says he hopes to use as many local vendors or subcontractors as possible. The company beat out three other firms to win the contract. Kennedy also appreciates the section of the Interstate the company will be working on because it’s local, running roughly from Highway 11 to Racine Street.
