City of Beloit considers removing stop light

Drivers and pedestrians note that the signal equipment at the intersection of West Grand Avenue and Bluff Street in Beloit has failed due to age and is currently in red/red flash mode. The Engineering Division conducted a three month traffic study at this intersection with results showing that the signals are no longer warranted for this location. The recommendation is to remove the signals and replace them with 4-way stop signs.
The City Council plans to vote on the recommendation of the signal removal and installation of 4-way stop signs at the regularly scheduled Council meeting on August 21, 2017. Members of the public wishing to provide input prior to the City Council vote may contact Interim Public Works Director David Nord at (608) 364-6693.
