Downtown Janesville renovation plan moving slowly

Plans to develop a Town Square in downtown Janesville as part of the ARISE project are moving forward slowly.  Forward Janesville President John Beckord says construction on the interactive water feature may have been delayed by rain, but it’s still expected to open this fall.  The riverside amphitheater project is also still alive, but likely won’t be open and running for a couple years yet.  The two projects are among several, including a pedestrian bridge over the river and renovations at the Janesville Performing Arts Center.  Beckord says project costs could total around $9 million.  He says the Forward Foundation has raised about $1 million through private donations, and the effort is expected to go public in October.
