Calling all craft beer lovers, home brewers and history buffs! UW-Whitewater Continuing Education is excited to announce its first massive open online course (MOOC) Beer Matters this fall. Beer Matters is a free online class, open to anyone 21 and over. The online class begins September 6 and will explore beer and brewing from prehistoric times to the present. Lessons will also cover brewing around the globe, as well as beer in America, from Prohibition to the current popularity of craft brewing. The six-week course will be taught by Karl Brown, assistant professor of history at UW-Whitewater and former professional brew master in the U.S. and Europe.
The online course, Beer Matters, is completely free but registration is required. Beer pairings are suggested each week and class lessons will be complemented by three optional “meet ups” where classmates have an opportunity to meet each other and the instructor at local venues in the beer and brewing industry. There is a small fee for meet ups, and registration is also required for attendance.
