David’s PAR 3 Ltd. will be hosting its 3rd Annual SAVE A LIFE Golf Scramble on September 24 at Prairie Woods Golf Course. Founded in 2015, our mission is to prevent suicide through education, training, and public awareness campaigns, and to provide hope, help, and support to improve the lives of people who have been affected by suicide. This event was created in memory of David Palcic, a Janesville resident and Craig High School graduate who died by suicide in March of 2012 at the age of 21. David’s family created this non-profit organization to raise awareness on suicide and to prevent other families from having to go through such a tragedy. The golf scramble is held in September, which is the month of David’s birthday. Jacqui Palcic, David’s mom and president of David’s PAR 3 said, “We felt September would be the perfect time of year for the golf scramble. It’s our way of celebrating David’s birthday and his life, while also raising awareness of and funds for suicide prevention.”
One of the ways we accomplish our mission is through scholarships. These scholarships are available to individuals whose lives have been affected by suicide, whether they are an attempt survivor or they lost a loved one to suicide. Those that have experienced either side of suicide know how hard it can be to move forward or imagine a future. The scholarships are our way of providing hope and helping them take that first step.
