A recent random test of 20 homes in Edgerton found three had unacceptably high levels of lead in the water. City Administrator Ramona Flanigan says an investigation is underway, but the community’s three municipal wells have already been cleared. Flanigan says the city is working with the DNR to verify the source. Early thoughts are the source of contamination is likely old pipes linked directly to the individual homes affected. For anyone concerned, she suggests running the water for two-to-three minutes after it hasn’t been used for several hours, to ensure all the water in the home’s pipes is flushed out. More information can be found on the city’s website.
