Janesville Schools to get new fiber optic system

A pricey technology project for the Janesville School District could have long term savings, as well as improving staff efficiency and supporting student learning. District Communications Specialist Patrick Gasper says installation of a new fiber-optic cable system is being made possible through a federal program, which will pay 80% of the more than $2 million price tag.  Gasper says the new system will provide high-speed bandwidth without data speed controls or additional charges for greater Internet speeds. He says it’ll also allow for unlimited data capacity as the district grows.
