Six displaced after house fire in Janesville

Janesville firefighters are looking into the cause of a weekend fire on Jerome Avenue, although they don’t expect anything suspicious.  Officials say firefighters found flames showing on the south side of the home when they responded a little after 7:00 o’clock Sunday morning.  The fire was contained to the basement and first floor of the two story single family residence.  First responders say the family and pets had already escaped the structure.  Damage is estimated at around $55 thousand.  The Red Cross is assisting the six adults displaced by the fire.
