Day one of Joseph Jakubowski trial wraps up in Rock County Court

The 32-year-old Janesville man who’s on trial for burglarizing a gun store in a case that sparked national interest doesn’t take the stand in his own defense.
Joseph Jakubowski did however argue in Rock County Court Monday afternoon that a DNA expert’s testimony should not be considered as evidence.
Judge James Daley disagreed and ruled that the jury could consider the evidence.
Jakubowski is charged in Rock County Court with burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools. He’s already been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison on similar charges.
Both the prosecution and the defense rested their cases Monday afternoon. The case will pick up Tuesday morning with closing arguments and jury deliberations.
