Developing talent pipelines that are industry-led, utilize higher education and incorporate on the job training are proven strategies to help businesses cultivate a skilled workforce. On March 15, leaders from Blackhawk Technical College, Rock County 5.0 and the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board will introduce four “earn and learn” initiatives or resources designed to ensure that Rock and Green County employers have the talent they need to compete and grow in an ever-changing 21st century economy.
WHO: BTC President, Dr. Tracy Pierner, Rock County Economic Development Manager, James Otterstein and representatives from the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board
WHAT: During the event, four “earn and learn” opportunities will be showcased including:
- A new (for credit) mentor program designed for junior and senior high school students
- A new (paid) high school internship program aimed at rinsing high school seniors
- A new BTC Scholars program involving industry partnerships
- An expanded and enhanced apprenticeship program
