(Gazette photo) Milton School District voters turn out in mass to make their will known regarding the purchase of an old bowling alley to be used for athletic practices. A special electorate vote was held Monday night inside the Hawk Zone on South John Paul Road. The crowded room rejected the proposal on a vote of 402-to-304. Backyard Properties wanted to sell the building by the end of the month and gave the district the first opportunity at a $485 thousand purchase price. Some voters may have been disenchanted by the district’s recent revelation of a 2018 preliminary assessment value of $398 thousand. District officials say they’ll accept the outcome and continue searching for other facility options.
