A 46-year-old former Janesville school teacher is sentenced on a charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child. Aaron M. O’Reilly was found guilty of having sex with the then 13 year-old student in 2014 and 2015. During a sentencing hearing Wednesday, Rock County Assistant District Attorney Richard Sullivan described the assaults as a betrayal of trust. The victim’s mother described her daughter as a young impressionable girl who was taken advantage of, and asked Judge Michael Haakenson to sentence O’Reilly to ten-years behind bars. Even O’Reilly proclaimed his guilt and said he wanted to take responsibility in open court. Haakenson cited O’Reilly’s chaotic upbringing and social achievements, in sentencing him to four-years behind bars.
