Milwaukee Road construction project in Beloit begins next week

Work crews will be improving the Milwaukee Road Gateway Corridor from Branigan Road to Lee Lane in Beloit beginning the week of April 30-May 4. The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 2.
The Milwaukee Road improvements are to address current concrete pavement distress, upgrade storm water management for the area, accommodate bicycle traffic, fill sidewalk gaps, and upgrade traffic signals to current standards. The existing concrete pavement is 40 years old.
Cranston Road will also be under construction for .3 miles northwest of Milwaukee Road as part of that project.
Branigan Road will also be realigned near the Walmart and Menards entrance; that portion of the project is expected to be completed in June.
The Branigan Road portion of the project will correct the offset intersection to create a more direct and safer intersection. The project includes new asphalt, curb and gutter, storm sewer, pavement markings, and a sidewalk.
The road will remain open to through traffic during the project. Some intersections may close overnight. Any intersection closures will be posted on the city’s website and on the Facebook page with information about alternate routes. The city will post weekly updates on Thursdays on www.beloitwi.gov. Scroll down to “Public Works construction updates” to get the updates.
