A squirrel is being blamed for a large power outage Friday morning on Janesville’s east side. Alliant Energy officials say the squirrel got into a substation in the Harmony-Townhall Road area and knocked out power to about 1650 customers. The outage began about 10:00 a.m. and was restored about an hour later. Alliant Energy says 15-20% of outages are caused by animals.
